Resident Return Visa – Subclass 155 or 157
After 5 years on a Permanent Residence Visa the travel facility ends. This means that you will be required to obtain a Resident Return Visa if you wish to travel outside Australia and return as a Permanent Resident after 5 years.
To qualify for this visa, you must meet the Residency Requirement of having spent 2 of the past 5 years in Australia as a Permanent Resident. If you are unable to meet this requirement you may still be eligible by showing you have substantial business, cultural, employment or personal ties of benefit to Australia.
Depending on which stream you are eligible for, the Resident Return Visa may be granted with a travel facility of 3 -12 months or 5 years.
You must also meet Public Interest, Special Return and Character requirements.
Family members cannot be included in your application and will have to apply for this visa independently.
You can be inside or outside Australia when you apply for this visa.
