Global Talent Visa – Subclass 858/121

There are two streams for this visa – The Global Talent pathway and the Distinguished Talent Pathway. Both pathways lead to a Permanent Residence visa.

The Global Talent Pathway is for applicants who can demonstrate an internationally recognised record of exceptional and outstanding achievement in one of the following sectors:

  • Resources
  • Agri-food and AgTech
  • Energy
  • Health industries
  • Defence, advanced manufacturing and space
  • Circular economy
  • Digitech
  • Infrastructure and tourism
  • Financial services and FinTech
  • Education

You must first make an Expression of interest with the department and then they must invite you to apply.

The Distinguished Talent Pathway is for people who can demonstrate outstanding achievements in one of the following areas:

  • A profession
  • Sports
  • Arts
  • Academia and research

An invitation to apply is not required for this pathway.

As part of the application the visa applicant must be Nominated by an Australian person or organisation who has a national reputation in your chosen area of achievement.

Health, Character, Public Interest and Special Return criteria must also be met as part of your application. A partner, children and any dependents may be included in your application. Age, English language ability, the ability to establish yourself in Australia and demonstrate how you will be of benefit to Australia are also application requirement

These types of applications are not to be undertaken lightly as they usually require large amounts of documentary evidence to convince a case officer that you do in fact meet the discretionary visa criteria.
